our signature combination of thermal heat and deep tissue therapy prior to spinal adjustments sets us apart
Our services
Our Chiropractors and Osteopaths are registered healthcare professionals who provide a non-invasive hands on treatment that focuses on improving the function of the neuro-musculoskeletal system.
Chiropractic and Osteopathy can help alleviate pain, reduce muscle tension, improve joint mobility and correct body alignment. This involves gentle and effective manipulation/mobilization of the spine and extremity joints and is performed in combination with thermal heat to initially relax muscles followed by remedial massage to help improve and sustain back and body balance and mobility.
Patient specific programs to help compliment conservative treatment plans include specific exercise strengthening and stretching programs as well as tailored ergonomic, dietary, and lifestyle modification and counseling.
Standard consults are approximately 30 minutes in duration and combine thermal heat, massage and chiropractic treatment and advice. Those patients who have private health cover (extras) will be able to claim their rebate so only the gap is payable.
Common Conditions We Treat
-
Headaches can be the result of different symptoms and conditions. There are several kinds of headaches caused by various factors such as our environment. It can also originate from cervical vertebrae, or the spinal bones located in the base of the neck. There are many different causes of headaches; vascular, eye dysfunction, nerve pressure from the spine, temporo mandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, muscular tightness in the neck and upper back. Our chiropractors at The Back and Body Clinic have extensive experience in helping people deal with tension headaches, migraine headaches, stress related, cervicogenic headaches and more.

The exact cause of a person's TMJ disorder is often difficult to determine. Your pain may be due to a combination of factors, such as genetics, arthritis or jaw injury. Some people who have jaw pain also tend to clench or grind their teeth (bruxism), although many people habitually clench or grind their teeth and never develop TMJ disorders.
-
Neck pain can be caused by restricted joints, tight muscles and pressure on nerves in your neck. Chiropractic care might be able to help if you are experiencing sharp pain, limited movement, headaches, stiffness, pain when trying to sleep, and the neck feels stuck. These issues are commonly due to postural abnormalities, muscular dysfunctions and misalignment of the bones in your neck.

Back pain is a common complaint among patients, and at least 1 in 6 Australians complain of back pain at some point in their lifetime. Back pain can have a significant impact on all aspects of life including daily activities, family life, work, recreation and social activities.
Symptoms of Back Pain Back
Symptoms could be present while either sitting, standing, performing physical activities. To determine which type of pain you have, take a look at several of these diagnoses to see which one closely fits what your body is struggling with today.Muscle Spasms
Muscle spasms in your back can range from a minor discomfort and stiffness to a sharp, severe pain and muscle tightening that prevents normal back movements. Spasms can also be the result of an older injury your body has experienced or even a new injury you don’t know about.Sciatica Pain
The most common cause of lower back pain and sciatica leg pain is the direct result of lumbar spine misalignment, or muscular dysfunction in the pelvic region. The vertebrae in the lower back have been forced into an awkward position for long periods of time, which causes nerve compression, limitation of muscle function, aberrant movement in lumbo-pelvic region, lower back pain, and eventually leg pain as a result of prolonged compression of the sciatic nerve.Back Strains/ Sprains
Healthy backs are strong and flexible, thanks in large part to the muscles that support the spine and the tough, fibrous ligaments that hold the vertebrae together. Unfortunately, these tissues can't always handle the pressure of everyday life. Excess stress on your back can stretch or tear the ligaments. This is called a sprain. A strain is a stretching or tearing of muscle or tendon.Disc injuries
Disc injuries occur when forceful movements cause the spine to do an unusual motion such as heavy lifting, car accident or a fall. Disc injury types include a bulge, protrusion. It is possible to treat disc injuries with chiropractic care and to avoid surgery where possible. -
Shoulder pain is a debilitating, frustrating issue that many people experience at some stage through their life. The pain people experience can range from a dull ache to a debilitating and extremely painful issue. Shoulder issues require a timely and thorough assessment and diagnosis to ensure the correct treatment is started as soon as possible. Shoulder pain can be caused by frozen shoulder, bursitis, tendinosis, osteoarthritis, traumatic injuries, postural dysfunction, neck and upper back abnormalities.

The cause of hip pain will affect when and where you feel the soreness. Usually if the problem is with the hip itself you will feel pain inside your hip or your groin. If the pain is outside your hip, on the upper thigh or outer buttock, the cause will usually be problems with muscles, ligaments or tendons around the hip joint. Hip pain can sometimes be caused by diseases and conditions in other areas of your body, such as your lower back. This type of pain is called referred pain.
-
Knee pain is a common complaint that affects people of all ages. Knee pain may be the result of an injury, such as a ruptured ligament or torn cartilage. Medical conditions — including arthritis, gout and infections — also can cause knee pain. Knee pain can be caused by injuries, mechanical problems, types of arthritis and other problems.

Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of a thick band of tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes and is one of the most common causes of heel pain. People often experience sharp pain that is worse when they get up in the mornings and gets worse with prolonged standing. Ignoring this pain can result in a longer term injury, early diagnosis and treatment is essential and commonly involves extracorpeal shockwave therapy, which has been shown to be an effective therapy in plantar fascitis treatment.
Our Treatment Methods
spinal adjustments
All practitioners at Back and Body Clinic excel in the manual delivery of a diverse range of spinal and extremity joint mobilization, manipulation, and traction techniques. We apply these in combination with a range of deep tissue release and stretching techniques before tailoring specific strength and stability programs to ensure lasting results. Spinal adjustments are key to helping restore joint mobility and facilitating postural correction and spinal realignment.
Clinical exercise
Tailored exercise programs are prescribed and sent to patients via a digital app which provides detailed video demonstration and set/rep guidance.
Clinical demonstration is also routinely incorporated into patient consultations and exercise program reviews are regularly conducted to allow program modifications to ensure progressive overload and strength advancement.
Dry Needling
Dry needling is a muscle release technique. Using fine acupuncture needles it aims to deactivate muscular trigger points, reducing muscle tension and helping restore function. The Back and Body Clinic offers dry needling as a treatment option as part of the standard chiropractic/osteopathy consultation.
This may be substituted for the massage component of the consultation if the practitioner feels it will be of therapeutic benefit to do so. There is no additional charge for this service.
Foot Orthotics
Our practitioners at Back and Body Clinic are trained in the diagnosis and management of various foot disorders, especially given most will impact directly on spinal health. Orthotic footwear prescription is therefore a significant treatment adjunct to spinal therapy by helping stabilize certain lower limb ailments that may expose the rest of the body to imbalance.

Massage and thermal heat Therapy
Most standard consultations will include myotherapy techniques, such as active myofascial release, deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, and neural stretching to improve elasticity, reduce stiffness and relax involved muscles and fascia.
Shockwave therapy
Shockwave Therapy is a non-surgical treatment that utilises radial sound waves to help break down scar tissue and calcific adhesions commonly seen in chronic tendinopathies such as plantar fascitis, rotator cuff tendonitis, and tennis elbow. The treatment helps reduce nerve pressure and increases circulation to the affected area helping trigger a healing response that assists with restoring mobility and function. This treatment modality has an 80% success rate for chronic conditions within 3 months.
Chronic (calcific) Tendonitis
Lateral Epicondylitis (Tennis elbow)
Supraspinatus Tendonitis (Rotator Cuff Syndrome)
Plantar Fasciitis
